About Europa-Park

Europa-Park is a theme park in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. With over 6 million visitors in 2022, it is the most visited theme park in the German-speaking area.

According to the AECOM Theme Index 2019, Europa-Park is the most visited seasonal theme park in the world. In September 2022, the Golden Ticket Award jury of the US magazine Amusement Today voted Europa-Park the best theme park in the world for the eighth year in a row.

Covering a total area of 950,000 m², 19 themed areas offer over 100 rides and several shows. The park also includes six hotels, a camping site, a 4D magic cinema and a conference centre.

Baseline situation

Until now, the staff at the more than 300 cash touchpoints at Europa-Park in Rust had to contend with long routes when they made their way to the main cash desk to exchange banknotes for coin rolls for change.

With millions of visitors every year, cash handling is a time-consuming and costly exercise. Furthermore, up to now this not only ate up a lot of time, but also an enormous amount of resources, both for the staff in the individual shops and the employees at the main cash desk.

Another important aspect was reducing the security and error risk, which ultimately led Europa-Park’s central purchasing department to improve its internal cash processes, and by doing so optimise and free up important resources.

Solution

By installing the CoinRoll 123 coin roll dispenser, the theme park is optimising its change strategy, enabling it to reap the many benefits of an automated coin roll issuing and change service.

The coin roll dispenser can be individually filled on site to meet need and demand, dispenses coin rolls depending on the employee’s selection and changes money into the desired coins and banknotes – flexibly, conveniently and in next to no time.

Another plus point is that the CoinRoll 123 is available around the clock – also outside the opening hours of the main cash desk.
What’s more, the HESS Webmaster allows staff to simply and conveniently monitor current cash stocks, view cash turnover and evaluate transactions from the workplace.

“After just a few short weeks, the CoinRoll 123 has already become an indispensable part of our change strategy.”

Result

24/7 availability allows shop and restaurant staff to significantly reduce the amount of cash in hand. “Hamster orders during the day and returned, unopened coin rolls in the evening are a thing of the past thanks to the CoinRoll 123,” explains Holger Theurer, Director Key Account Management at HESS.

With no need for prior training, the park’s staff have welcomed the automated change dispenser and are now able to focus more efficiently on sales and customer flow thanks to the device’s extremely intuitive ease-of-use.

Since its installation, staff at the main cash desk have been able to greatly optimise internal cash in hand and significantly reduce the time and resources for preparing change for the next day and managing unused coin roll returns at the end of the day.

The automated change service provided by CoinRoll 123 enables cash touchpoint staff to manage their cash more efficiently.
