HESS prepares device portfolio for new legal requirements

With the entry into force of the European Accessibility Act (EAA), HESS Cash Systems is taking comprehensive measures to implement the new legal requirements at an early stage. The aim is to provide barrier-free access to our self-service systems for all people - regardless of physical or cognitive limitations.

The EAA is based on EU Directive (EU) 2019/882 on accessibility requirements for products and services. It comes into force in Germany on June 28, 2025 and obliges companies to design certain products and services in such a way that they are accessible to all user groups.

These include in particular

• Banks and savings banks
• Public administrations and municipal institutions
• Retail and retail chains
• Transport companies and mobility service providers
• Insurance companies and other financial service providers
• Telecommunications providers
• Providers of self-service terminals and vending machine solutions

HESS Cash Systems has already started to adapt its entire portfolio of self-service systems to the BFSG requirements. This applies in particular to ATMs, deposit and withdrawal machines and other automated teller and service solutions.

The EAA represents an important step towards digital and physical inclusion. As a leading provider in the field of cash-related automation, HESS sees the new requirements as an opportunity to further improve existing systems and actively shape barrier-free standards in the industry.
